A
Thousand Never Evers
A Powerful Narrative by Shana Burg that Examines an
Explosive Time in our History
Set against the tumultuous backdrop of the Civil
Rights Movement, A THOUSAND NEVER EVERS by debut
author Shana Burg sets a new standard in literary
historical fiction with the heartrending story of
Addie Ann Pickett. A THOUSAND NEVER EVERS is sure to
take its place next to great American historical
novels such as Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry by
Mildred D. Taylor and The Color Purple by Alice
Walker.
Twelve-year-old Addie Ann Pickett is excited to
start junior high. What she doesn’t realize is that
she’ll learn a life-changing lesson outside of the
classroom. The racial tension in Kuckachoo,
Mississippi, in 1963 is running high. One misplaced
laugh has Addie Ann and her brother, Elias, in big
trouble and it isn’t long before Uncle Bump is also
faced with a serious problem. He is accused of
destroying the town’s new integrated garden and his
fate lies in the hands of an all-white jury.
Addie Ann is stunned by the events in her town and
for the first time understands the importance of
speaking out. In a compelling race against time,
Addie Ann decides that she can no longer be a
bystander and instead takes action, no matter what
the consequences.
Burg
has masterfully crafted a gripping and
suspense-filled story from beginning to
end. This meticulously researched work
of literary historical fiction provides
a comprehensive view of a south ruled by
the Jim Crow laws, and includes an
informative author’s note and afterword.

Our Mission:
"Big Blend Magazine is a company based on the belief that education is the most formidable weapon that can be waged against fear, ignorance and prejudice.
It is our belief that education starts at
home and branches outward. Education leads to travel, and
travel leads to understanding, tolerance, and appreciation
of cultures and customs different to our own, and ultimately
to world peace. Our company is further based on the
principle that networking, communication, and helping others
to promote and market themselves leads to financial
stability; thus paving the way to better education, travel,
and the spirit of giving back to the community."
