 Alligator 'Gland' Martini

The Tandem Tasters are enjoying hand crafted cocktails at the Lemaire at The Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, VA. As Bartender, Mark Nellson, prepared our Alligator Gland Martini, Director Ben Urbanks, Director of Restaurants and Wine provided us with the legend behind the Alligator and The Jefferson Hotel. In the 40's when baby alligators were popular to bring back from Florida, women would wear them on chains pinned on their dresses. As the alligators grew, they were not considered as cute. In a quandary for disposal, The Jefferson Hotel accepted all donations and housed the pet alligators.

In a shaker with Ice:
2 oz.
Hendrick's Gin
2 oz. orange juice
0.25 oz. Benedictine
0.5 oz. Chambord
Shake,
strain, serve up.
Garnish with orange spiral.
