Rum
Sea Breeze Cocktail
By Maralyn Hill and Brenda Hill
‘The Tandem Tasters’
It is September, one of our favorite
months of the year for many reasons.
Although we look forward to autumn,
we still love those last lazy, hazy
days of summer. Cheers to another
weekend of refreshing sea breezes.
Sea breezes are best known as vodka
drinks, but we like them with white
rum and plenty of fresh limes. This
is the ideal late summer pool or
beach drink.
Ingredients:
3 cups cranberry
juice
1 cup grapefruit juice
1 cup of white rum
1 lime, juiced.
6 lime slices for garnish
|
Mixology:
Pour all of the juices into a large pitcher and stir.
Serve over ice in a tall glass, garnish with lime slices.
Tips:
-
This drink is
best for people like us who like their drinks tart. Although
Norm loves lime gimlets, he likes to add a little pineapple or
pomegranate juice to this one. We call his version a sweet sea
breeze.
-
You can use
vodka instead of rum, less cranberry and more rum or grapefruit.
-
This recipe
tastes refreshing no matter how you slightly vary the amount or
the ingredients. For example, if out of limes, lemons will
work, or a few teaspoons of Roses lime juice.
-
We keep frozen
grapes in the freezer as a quick and cool garnish for many
cocktails.
