Down 2 Earth Gardens
Gardening Consulting Company in Phoenix, AZ
Doreen Pollack is
the owner of Down 2 Earth Gardens, a garden consulting company in
Phoenix, Arizona. Doreen provides advice to homeowners on how to
reduce the use and dependency of outside resources in their
landscape. Her low water and low human energy use designs are
creative and natural. She specializes in working closely with
do-it-yourself gardeners and people just starting to use their yard
for food production and respite from their busy lives.
She has also
turned her own urban plot in a downtown Phoenix Historic District
into a living example of what she teaches. Her front yard now
houses an edible garden where a lush Bermuda grass lawn used to be.
Rainwater harvesting systems channel and store rain, compost piles
supply needed amendments to harsh clay soil and creative plant
location maximize use of this neighborhood lot.
Doreen is a Master
Gardener, a Permaculture Designer and a community leader. She is a
contributor to several on-line websites, paper-based magazines and a
radio show focusing on ‘green’ gardening and living. She is a
frequent guest on Phoenix ABC affiliate, Channel 12 News and teaches
about gardening through the Phoenix Permaculture Guild, The Desert
Botanical Garden and her own company.
