Natural Skin Care On A Budget!
It's More Like Common Sense Steps In
by Nancy
J. Reid
More than 125 chemicals attack your skin a day,
while you pay premium price for it!
There is a glut
of information on the internet about natural
skin care versus what one might purchase from a
cosmetic company. It gets confusing, to say the
least. Read the labels, do your homework--well I
say, enough! Let's just look at it from a common
sense point of view. We use lotions, soaps,
scrubs, scents, deodorants, shampoos,
conditioners--maybe about ten products a day on
our skin--the largest organ of the body. Do the
math--our skin sponges up at least 125 or more
chemicals a day. Chemicals we, as the purchaser,
really don't know much about. Not only do we
know little about what we are putting on our
skin--we are paying top dollar to do it. Do
these chemicals stick somewhere in our bodies?
or do they go away? How much are we ingesting
over a lifetime? Where do these chemicals come
from? Have they been studied? Can you trust the
FDA?
Some reports say
there are around 10,000 or more cosmetic and
skin care ingredients that the U.S. Food and
Drug Administration have not evaluated for
safety. That's quite a risk, if you think about
it. All those chemicals, never evaluated, but
allowed in your products that you apply directly
to your skin--for me, that answers the question
about whether or not to trust the FDA. Do we
trust the cosmetic companies to stir clear of
harmful chemicals? Let's not even go
there--profit is profit. Consider that more than
1,000 personal product ingredients have been
banned for use in cosmetics in the European
Union due to concerns about their role in cancer
and birth defects--while only ten are banned
here. And, we haven't even started on the
packaging.
How about, we
make it simple, safe and inexpensive. In a few
minutes, anyone can whip up a facial scrub,
cleaner or toner with a few items you most
likely already have in your kitchen. Lemons,
pineapple, oats, sugar, honey, olive oil, eggs,
and apple cider vinegar, just to name a
few--will make all you need. For just pennies
you can get better results than the expensive,
toxic versions that line the shelves of our
markets, beckoning us to spend, spend, spend!
Have a look at
the selection of videos, and consider using some
common sense. You won't have to read labels,
travel very far to find product, and best of
all, you will know they are safe. Have fun
experimenting--you will find what works best for
you--and have the security of knowing you are
not feeding your skin something you skin really
doesn't want. |
