The
Brothers Grimm -
A Fairy Tale
As Napoleon
wreaked havoc across Europe, intending to dominate the
world, the Brothers Grimm, inspired by friends, were
bent on preserving their Germanic Culture. They began to
collect tales in the early 1800s. They grew impatient
with their friend who was to publish their findings, so
published Children's and Household Tales. When they
experienced the re-action to the tales, which were often
cruel, they started to "edit," making the tales sweeter
and with a moral. Snow White's wicked mother became a
step-mother, as did Hansel's & Gretel's. Now the tales
are read in over 160 languages and loved all over the
world.
See if you can match the name of the tale to the
