Hi
Kids, Time for the Thanksgiving Game!
Read the story, the clues are in Yellow.
Play the Game
at the end.
Thanksgiving is this
month. Are you ready to start cooking! What are your favorite
recipes?
Making the turkey
stuffing is always fun because
you can add in your own ideas. You can add mushrooms, onions, walnuts,
or even pineapple! It seems to always taste good no matter what you add.
I am sure you have
already heard the story of the first
Thanksgiving. It would be neat if we could go back in time to
watch the Indians eating dinner
with the new settlers. I wonder
how they managed to organize the dinner when they did not speak the same
language. Maybe they had an
interpreter? Do you think they
had potatoes and gravy
too.
It seems that each
family has their own traditions.
At our house the kids used to walk down to the high school They would
play football with the neighbors
while the turkey was cooking. That was a long time ago. Now the kids
have kids of their own, and they have their own pets too.
Did you know that each
year the President of the United
States picks a turkey which is set free. Yes it is true and you can
probably see it on the news. This year it will be President Bush and
this will be his last time. Next year there will be a new president.
Do you know who the next president will be?
At the thanksgiving meal
our family will take turns to say what we are thankful for, you know
besides the great meal. It is usually each other. We are
thankful that we have a
wonderful family and that we helped each other through some difficult
times.
Often there is a
center-piece on the table. Have
you ever helped mom make the center-piece? It can be made with pine
cones, flowers, or even candles. I like to jump up on the table and play
with the center-piece when no one is looking.
After the meal it seems
that a nap is in order. Well, except for the person who is cleaning up
the dirty dishes. If only they would let me clean off the dishes. The
nap seems short. Before long the pies
are pulled out and put on the table with fresh coffee, for another round
of enjoyment.
It always seems kind-of
quiet and sad when everyone leaves to go home. We just don’t get to see
each other often enough.
Have a great
Thanksgiving – Orion
