What is Valentines Day all about anyway? Romance, candy, red hearts, some guy named St Valentine? Who is this saint and why do we celebrate this day in February? There are many old stories about the catholic saint.  One such story says that this man was the first one to send a card to his girlfriend and signed it your Valentine. He then died before seeing his beloved lady in February. The story was shared all over and people felt sorry for him.

Shortly after that event people from all of the world started celebrating that romantic letter on February 14th. A romantic letter tells your special friend how much you love and care about them.

People send cards, flowers, stuffed animals, and candy to a special loved one or to friends and family. Often a valentine is sent without a signature, making it a mystery to be solved

Today both boys and girls wonder if they will get a special card or gift. Children enjoy exchanging cards and candy in school. Parents make cupcakes or cookies with red sprinkles to celebrate at dinner time.

It is a lovely holiday that reminds us all about falling in love and dreaming about meeting a special person. For moms and dads it is a day to show each other how important they are to each other.

It is fun and easy to make your own valentine cards. With a pair of scissors and some glue you can cut out two hearts one larger than the other. They can be different colors, and then glue the small one on top of the large one. When the glue dries you can write a cute little note to your friend.  You can also bring a box of hearts with little notes and share them.  They are fun to read, some of them are very funny.
