Orion's
Earth Day Game
Just read
the story, the clues are in green, then play the game at the end!
Hey kids, this is
April and there is a lot to do this month.
There is April fools day on
April 1st. On this day it is okay to say
a funny joke to your
friend. Just make sure you don’t hurt anyone’s feelings.
Easter
is also in April and it is always on Sunday. This year it is
on April 12th.
It is always fun to color a few eggs and hide them for someone to
find. You may also find a few chocolate eggs – yum!
The big day in April
is Earth Day. It is on April 22.
The first time anyone celebrated Earth Day was in 1970. Now each
year people from all over the world meet to discuss ways
to help protect the environment.
The environment is the air we breath, plus the water and land on our
planet.
During the first Earth Day in 1970 several things happened in
America.
The environmental
Protection agency was established.
The tough clean air
Act was passed in congress
The clean water
Act was started
The endangered
species Act was started
The resource
conservation and recovery Act was started
Sometimes when
people talk about taking care of the earth I wonder what I can do to
help. I found out that there are many things
each of us can do every day.
If we all just think about how our actions can make a difference:
We can
recycle our cans, glass,
and paper by separating them from the normal trash. There are
recycling bins you can put
the items in. You can also save them and take them to recycling
centers. Always remember to put your trash in the trash can. Never
throw trash out in the street.
There many items you
can replace in your home to save energy. Like
your light bulbs, window
covers, solar panels, and adding insulation. You can
reuse things
also like a cloth shopping bag instead of the plastic bags. You can
get a water filter and drink your water instead of buying water
bottles.
Another easy way to
save energy and the environment is to use less or
reduce. Remember to turn
off lights when you are not in the room. Use fewer paper towels. You
can get out in the garden and pick weeds instead of using sprays.
I hope you all have
a wonderful April and think of new ways to keep the earth healthy.
Then tell your class at school.
Thank you for
helping the environment!

Our Mission: "Big Blend Magazine is a company based on the belief that education is the most formidable weapon that can be waged against fear, ignorance and prejudice.
It is our belief that education starts at
home and branches outward. Education leads to travel, and
travel leads to understanding, tolerance, and appreciation
of cultures and customs different to our own, and ultimately
to world peace. Our company is further based on the
principle that networking, communication, and helping others
to promote and market themselves leads to financial
stability; thus paving the way to better education, travel,
and the spirit of giving back to the community."
