Beauty
Fix 101
By Jenna Brown 'Scarlet
Stylist' Hair & Make Up Designer
There are so many things we have to deal with on a daily basis -
kids, jobs, men, bills, and the list can go on. Not only do we
worry about these things all through the night but we wake up
and have to look in the mirror and fix our appearance. We run
into all kind of problems. My hair is too flat, it’s too big,
how do I tame this, when did those roots pop out, were did that
zit come from, and did I even sleep last night look at loose
dark circles?
Well, here are some pointers just to make you life simpler.
Flat Hair
A great solution to flat hair that needs volume is to wash it
less. Washing it every other day can help keep some of the
natural oils in your hair. These oils help with quality of hair
and it makes the hair just a little dirty so you can have more
volume at the root. If you have oily hair or work out a lot and
feel you need to wash every day there are two things you can
try. Try just rinsing your hair in the shower and not washing it
or buy your self a dry shampoo. A dry shampoo takes the oil out
of your hair and provides you with clean hair while giving you
volume.
Big Hair
Sometimes you can wake up with giant hair in the morning that
can’t be tamed. The humidity can also create unruly hair. A
simple answer to this question it to get a serum. This highly
concentrated product smooth and softens hair that is frizzy. If
you have big hair, put it in before you blow dry and this will
help with softening your hair.
Roots
I have clients all the time calling me with hair emergencies.
You look in the mirror one day and realize that you have two
inches of roots. Then you call your stylist and beg for a last
minute appointment. This is stressful for you and your
stylist. Especially if you have events coming up. So plan
ahead. Book your appointment ahead of time. If you don’t know
your schedule in advance ask your stylist to call you a week or
two before you are due to get it done. If you just need that
quick fix, use eye shadow and brush it on your roots that show.
Zits
How many times have you gone to bed with your make up on? Then
you look in the mirror in the morning and yup, you have a pimple
in the most obvious spot. How do you cover it up? First of all,
don’t pick at it. That will only make it worse. Then before you
put on your foundation apply a concealor by dabbing. After that
you put on the foundation and blend into the concealor. Also, if
this happens to you a lot use a primer with zinc and it will
help. The primer goes under the foundation.
Dark Circles
This is the worst thing to me. Dark circles from lack of sleep
can make you look older or just plan tired. To help this, you
need a light concealer. First apply an eye cream for dark
circles. Then apply the concealer on top. Make sure you are
gentle - skin under your eyes is thin, so be soft and dab on the
products. You can then use your foundation to blend in the
lines.
I hope this has been helpful. Here is one more trick of the
trade - if you have a big zit put toothpaste on it before bed
and wear it all night. Remember don’t sweat the small stuff.
