Ed Keenan, portrait photoEd Keenan - Author

Emphasizing the life and lore of the southwest cowboy some fifty years ago, Ed Keenan captures the colorful details of this unique desert cowhand and rancher, in historical vignettes, recipes and poetry. He has, obviously, been over the trail of which he writes. His poems are laced with real cowboy humor, but filled with reality and drama of the extremes that only the desert can provide.

Ed is the author of the Sold Out book, Cow Chip Poetry--Lies, Lingo an' Lore, an unusually entertaining collection of thirty-two original poems that read more like a historical adventure of gringo cowboys, ranchers and rural folks.

He is currently working on another book. In the meantime, please enjoy his poems, stories and recipes below.

Chuckwagon Recipes and Dutch Oven Cookin' by Ed Keenan
Regarding Origin of Recipes:
Many of the recipes I have compiled are from the Keenan Klan or were given to me or collected over the years. Since recipes get collected and passed around over a lifetime, it may be that I could end up posting somebody’s family original and not know it. Anytime I knowingly share someone’s truly original recipe, I am more than happy to give credit to its creator.

Our Mission: Our Mission: "Big Blend Magazine is a company based on the belief that education is the most formidable weapon that can be waged against fear, ignorance and prejudice.
It is our belief that education starts at home and branches outward. Education leads to travel, and travel leads to understanding, tolerance, and appreciation of cultures and customs different to our own, and ultimately to world peace. Our company is further based on the principle that networking, communication, and helping others to promote and market themselves leads to financial stability; thus paving the way to better education, travel, and the spirit of giving back to the community."
