A VISIT TO CASA RONDEÑA WINERY IN ALBUQUERQUE

Recorded onsite, this episode of Big Blend Radio’s Eat, Drink & Be Merry show features John Calvin, owner of the world-class and award-winning Casa Rondeña Winery in the North Valley of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Listen here in the YouTube player or download the podcast on Podbean or SoundCloud.

Casa Rondeña Winery was lovingly established in late 1995 as a family undertaking, with the first plantings in 1990 at the hands of vintner John Calvin. The Tasting Room opened in August 1997 and a winery building, with a commemorative Tricentennial bell tower, was completed in the autumn of 2004. In 2008, a new barrel aging and storage facility, including the Founder’s Rotunda, was built to expand the production capability of the winery and hold special events for winery members and special guests. The Tasting Room and winery are open to the public daily.

Casa Rondeña Winery’s locally hand-crafted wines currently include Viognier, Merlot Rose; Serenade – an off-dry blend of Riesling and Viognier; La Copine – a table red made with Merlot and a hint of Viognier; Cabernet Franc; Meritage – a Bordeaux blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc; 1629 –  a full-bodied blend of Tempranillo, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon; Syrah; and the decadent port-style Animante.
