DEGRAZIA’S CHICKENS & DESERT DWELLINGS
Two New Ted DeGrazia Art Exhibits

Listen to the Big Blend Radio conversation with Lance Laber, Executive Director of the DeGrazia Gallery in the Sun, who discusses Ted DeGrazia’s art and the new exhibits “DeGrazia’s Chickens” and “DeGrazia’s Desert Dwellings,” on display from May 18, 2018 – Jan. 30, 2019.

Paintings and sculpture spanning six decades of Tucson artist Ted DeGrazia’s career are featured in DeGrazia’s Chickens. Chickens were a favorite subject of the artist who depicted them as everything from a folksy background detail or fashion accessory, to heroic portraits and textile designs.

DeGrazia Gallery in the Sun is a 10-acre historic landmark nestled in the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains in Tucson, Arizona. It was designed and built from the ground up by Ted DeGrazia who achieved worldwide acclaim for his colorful paintings of native cultures of the Sonoran desert. Using traditional adobe bricks crafted on-site, DeGrazia built the gallery so his paintings “would feel good inside.” Opened in 1965, the Gallery is home to over 15,000 originals of Ted DeGrazia art pieces including oil paintings, watercolors, ceramics and sculptures. There are six permanent collections on display and several rotating exhibitions each year. www.DeGrazia.org
