Don’t Kill My Buzz

David Mizejewski, National Wildlife Federation (NWF) naturalist and author of the award-winning how-to book “Attracting Birds, Butterflies and Other Backyard Wildlife,” talks on Big Blend Radio, about the role of bees in the ecosystem and how they support our agriculture.  Hear how we can all take action to save bee populations across the country through NWF’s bee conservation #Don’tKillMyBuzz campaign with Beesponsible® and NWF’s Garden for Wildlife program that since 1973, has been educating and empowering people to turn their garden spaces into thriving habitat for birds, bees, butterflies and other wildlife.

North America is home to over 4,000 native bee species that are key pollinators. Managed domesticated honey bees, along with some native bee species, are essential to our nation’s agriculture economy and food supply, providing one-third of all the food we eat. Insect pollinators are ALSO important food sources for other wildlife including countless bird, mammal, reptile and amphibian and fish species.

Both domesticated honey bees and wild native bees are experiencing troubling populations declines due to habitat loss, pesticides and disease. That’s why Beesponsible® has teamed up with National Wildlife Federation to promote bee conservation.. Every dollar donated through the #dontkillmybuzz campaign will support conservation efforts of the National Wildlife Federation, such as Garden for Wildlife® and other programs aimed at raising awareness about the declining pollinator populations and establishing pesticide-free, pollinator-friendly gardens across the country. One personal action we can all help bees is to create bee-friendly gardens and register them as Certified Wildlife Habitats with the National Wildlife Federation’s Garden for Wildlife program. Visit
