JULIE DEE SUMAN: TRAVEL WRITER & PHOTOGRAPHER
Julie Dee Suman is a Maryland-based travel writer and award-winning photographer. She has traveled extensively, including over 46 countries across six continents. In addition to featuring the Mid-Atlantic Region, where she lives with her husband, Julie enjoys destination travel with a focus on nature and wildlife excursions.
In addition to travel writing, Julie is a published pharmaceutical scientist with over 50 publications, one book chapter, and multiple international speaking engagements. She’s the co-editor of Respiratory Drug Delivery. Her love of science and desire to learn lend themselves to discovering hidden gems during her travels.
Julie’s stories, 37 and counting, include discovering national wildlife regions and national parks. Her work includes mainstream and expedition cruise experiences, road trips, and beach destinations. Julie also believes that you can discover a town’s history through food and drink. She has multiple food and wine publications in her portfolio.
Julie always has a camera in hand—even if it’s just an iPhone. She enjoys the technical challenges of wildlife and landscape photography. Her photos have been recognized by the International Food, Wine & Travel Writers Association (IFWTWA), the Ward Museum Photo Contest, and Richard Branson’s 2022 Virtually Wild Photo Contest.
Julie is a regulator contributor at Wander with Wonder. Her work has been published in Roadtrippers Magazine, Go World Travel, Extended Weekend Getaways, Rovology, World Footprints, and more. She is also a member of the Travel Writers Café, IFWTWA, and the Annapolis Photography Workshop Group.
