Small-Ship Summer Wildlife Cruise in Alaska

BIG BLEND RADIO INTERVIEW: Judi Cohen “Traveling Judi” chats about her summer small-ship cruise adventures in Alaska, plus what is available this summer, as she has outlined below. Listen to her interview podcast on,, or, or hear the whole Summer Fest Show that she co-hosted on

If you always dreamed of doing a wildlife adventure in Alaska, taking a small-ship cruise during the summer of 2020 may be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Commencing August 1st, Uncruise Adventures using American-flagged vessels with under 250 passengers, is offering a 7-night Glacier Bay National Park Adventure from Juneau to Juneau with two days in Glacier Bay.

Last summer I had the opportunity to take a similar adventure with Uncruise, enjoying the remote wilderness hikes, kayaking, viewing brown bears, orcas, humpbacks and sea lions up-close, and floating through bergy bits to see icebergs and majestic glaciers. Read about the new extensive coronavirus protocols put in place by the cruise lines as well as the State of Alaska on their websites.

I would happily welcome the opportunity to go back to Alaska on a small ship, particularly during the summer of 2020, while the larger cruise ships are prohibited from operating. Imagine the solitude!
