Victoria Chick: From the art of seascapes to plein air painting and petroglyphs, Victoria Chick is a long-time Big Blend art expert and contributor focusing on noteworthy artists, art movements throughout history, as well as the development of various art modalities. From the past to the present, her articles showcase how art documents and preserves history and the stories of people and places around the world.

Based in Silver City, New Mexico, Victoria Chick is a contemporary figurative artist and printmaker, who also collects early 19th-20th century prints. She attended Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas where John Bashor, Chairman of the Art Department, introduced her to drawing from the model and, in particular, gesture drawing, beginning a life – long interest in expressing movement. Chick received her B.A. in Art from the University of Missouri at Kansas City where muralist Eric Bransby was her most influential studio professor. Her interest in Art History also developed at this time. She was awarded an M.F.A. in Painting from Kent State University in Ohio. Other influential experiences include work as a registered Art Therapist (ATR) and teaching studio and art history courses at the college and university levels. Acrylic is her main medium for paintings, and she also creates original, hand-pulled prints such as monotypes and monoprints. Visit
